Pottery by Phil Ankers

Hey! I’m a ceramicist based in Leeds. My work is handmade, being thrown on the wheel at my home studio.

My approach to ceramics is that they should serve both form and function - making timeless, tactile pieces that evoke a natural, grounded feeling.

My work primarily utilises dark clay bodies, and focusses on the idea that clay and glaze work in harmony, two parts making up a greater whole.

I work via wholesale, commissions, and direct sales. Currently available work for purchase can be found in the shop section of the site.

Visit the Exhibitions and Commissions area of the site for past work, and enquiries about new work.

Glazes

My approach to glazes is one rooted in my ideals as an environmentalist.

I aim to utilise materials which are found in greater abundance, and to steer away from those which exact a greater toll on our environment.
